It’s All About Jesus

Welcome to our new blog. This is Tom, one of the elders of New Covenant Fellowship. Blogging is new to me and this is one of my first attempts at it. I want to be a good steward of my words. I want my words to represent the same things that our church represents. More importantly, I want the words on this page to give glory to God.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.  – Psalm 19:14 (ESV)

You see, I don’t want to merely create a page which only celebrates the unique advantages of worshiping in a simple venue, such as house church. There are many such blogs and you are welcome to read them all. Instead, I want this page to first and foremost reflect the glory of Jesus. The church is the body of Christ on this earth. Churches should always point to Him, and not themselves. The Apostle Paul says it best:

“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” – 2 Corinthians 4:5 (ESV)

So, as you read through this blog, I hope and pray that this page will never ever become a place where believers fight over which is the best way to “do” church. We don’t “DO” church. We ARE the church. We are followers of Christ Jesus. We follow Him because He saved us and redeemed us from a hopeless way of life.

We will talk about practical ways of serving Jesus. We will talk about simple ways of being the church. But all of this comes out of the realization that we as a church belong to Christ. Whatever we do, we do for Him.

Good idea, Tom. I already forwarded the link to some new friends who had asked me about our house church.
